How NoCap checks a claim

Each result is an assessment of retrieved evidence. Open the excerpts and source links to examine it yourself.

What a verdict means

Supported means the cited evidence directly backs the claim. Misleading or mostly supported means part of the claim needs context. Contradicted means direct evidence weighs against it. Unverifiable means the available evidence cannot support a reliable answer.

How we choose evidence

NoCap searches for independent sources, ranks credibility and relevance, and checks whether each quoted excerpt appears in the fetched source. Publication dates matter especially for time-sensitive claims. A credible publisher alone does not make a quote relevant.

The final gate

A separate semantic review checks whether each quote addresses the same entity, date, quantity, and scope as the claim. Weak or tangential quotes are rejected. Conflicting evidence or insufficient support can downgrade a proposed verdict to Unverifiable.

Limits and corrections

Search and source access can fail. Some sources are undated, incomplete, or later corrected. A proof page records public rechecks and marks changes to the verdict or cited evidence. Use the report feedback control to flag a problem; a result should be rechecked when new primary evidence appears.

Privacy

Checks tied to an account are private to that account. A proof page is created only after someone selects Publish proof for a specific claim. Other claims and raw input from that check are not included. Published proof is visible to anyone with the link and may be indexed.
